Ski + School Day in the Life!

OMG you guys I finally got to leave Florida and go skiing! I have been so excited for months and now I get to enjoy. I am obsessed with skiing, so I wanted to do everything possible to go on this vacation. I decided to do online school in Vail, Colorado and then ski after school.

To be able to get the maximum amount of time on the slopes while still putting school first, I had to plan out my schedule very carefully. If you know me, you know that this wasn’t a problem because I plan literally everything.

Colorado is two hours ahead, so I had to adjust my schedule accordingly and wake up super early. Let me tell you it was worth it completely. I thought it would be super fun to show you guys what my exciting and busy ski and school day looks like.

I found that waking up really early and being able to enjoy the rest of the day was actually a perfect schedule for me.

To make sure things run smoothly, I needed to make sure everything was ready for me the night before. So, I set out my contacts and made sure all my items for breakfast were ready to be prepared the next morning. I prepared myself for what the school day had in store for me the next day. I slept in my long underwear so that I wouldn't have to get dressed the next morning and I would be partially ready for the slopes.

Before I left, I calculated the time I would have to wake up and made some switches to my normal schedule. I decided that I wanted to wake up at 4:40 A.M. mountain standard time. This way I would still have a relaxing morning especially with all the tests I had.

I wrote this post about my Wednesday schedule because I didn’t have a lot going on.

My Day:

  • First, I woke up at 4:40 and put my contacts in, washed my face, and did my hair. I always do my hair in two braids when I go skiing so to make sure I was ready and that’s what I did. I also did my morning affirmations in the mirror because self-love never stops.

  • I went back into bed, set a 15-minute timer, put in my air pods, and meditated for 15 minutes. I knew I wanted to keep my meditation because I love how it makes me feel and I love how I am not asleep but also not awake. It is a perfect transition period from sleeping to waking up. I listen to relaxing music to meditate and I incorporated words of gratitude because of how grateful I was for my vacation. The music I listen to is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwXilp2mUtE

  • Next, I went downstairs and made breakfast. I had an English muffin with SunButter, blueberries, and chai tea. I totally forgot how amazing SunButter is! I would normally have peanut butter, but our friends have a peanut allergy. So, this gave me the opportunity to change things up and I’m so glad I did. Also, I have been obsessed with blueberries and I don’t know why. I cannot go a day without a nice bowl of blueberries.

  • Then, it was time to start school. I logged onto my first class and got started.

  • My second period is very chill, and I got all my assignments done so, I used this time to make my brother breakfast and then do work for other classes. When I finished that I just relaxed!

  • Third and fourth period passed just like normal and before fifth period I got some kombucha to make sure I stayed hydrated and got my electrolytes in. This is especially important with the dry climate, high altitude, and intense skiing that I was preparing for.

  • Sixth period is my lunch period. With the time change, it was only 10:05 so, I decided I would eat lunch in a different period and utilize this time to do any extra work or just hangout on my phone. When I had a few minutes left, I grabbed all my ski gear and put it right next to where I was sitting.

  • I went through my seventh period and during my last period I ate hard boiled eggs and carrots with hummus. Then, when I had 15 minutes left of class, I started to put my ski outfit on. Right when the bell rung, I ended the meeting, and rushed out of our condo. I walked as fast as possible while wearing ski boots and carrying my skis and poles.

  • I hopped on the gondola and skied all afternoon. Luckily, this schedule gave me around three hours of skiing, and I was able to meet up with my dad and our friends.

  • I had some gummy worms and a handful of Lucky Charms because…duh!

  • After that, our whole group went in the hot tub to wind down and enjoy. We then played video games together, watched TV, talked, played chess, etc.

  • We had leftover pasta and meatballs for dinner.

  • We all spent the rest of the night doing whatever we wanted and just relaxing.

What I love about this trip is that I can, for once, fully relax. The mountains are a special place for me where I feel calm and at peace. The mountains wash away all my struggles and laughter and smiles fill the air.

We always go with a group of family friends who make me laugh and feel so comfortable. I have no obligations and I can do what I want when I want.
