Happy Almost First Day of School!
Hello beautiful people! It is the Sunday before the first day of my second year of college and I am so beyond excited. I moved into my apartment a little over a week ago and I have been getting settled and having fun. I already love living in an apartment and being with my five other incredible roomies. Being back has been so nice and I forgot how much I love it here in Chapel Hill (the best decision of my entire life). I wanted to post what I’m doing to prep for tomorrow, staying organized and calm.
Of course I went out last night because balance!! However, I set my alarm for 8 am so I could get my day going. I knew I was not going to feel like going to the gym first thing so I decided to do a few other tasks before getting a sweat in. This sounds weird, but sometimes I forget that I don’t have to do my workout first thing in the morning. I normally like to do it right away, but if I don’t feel like it, I don’t have to! Instead, I cleaned my room and put everything away. I did my laundry yesterday because I didn’t want to worry about it today, but I threw my sheets in the wash today. I always wash my sheets on Sunday so I can keep a schedule and make sure they are getting washed weekly. I think it’s important to keep a schedule for little tasks like cleaning and laundry so that things don’t pile up when you get really busy.
I then wrote out my schedule for tomorrow so I know what my day is looking like and because I’m crazy and I need a plan.
Here is what the day is going to look like:

Work hard, play hard is always my goal. During the school week I like to wake up early because I am a morning person and because I pack my days, I like having my mornings as “me” time. My goal this semester is to make sure I meditate every morning because I know it makes me feel a million times better. I decided that meditating before my workout and not after is the way to go because after my workout, my brain is already thinking so many thoughts and is ready to work.
Since I love my boxing workouts at home so much and my apartment as a punching bag, I have been trying to recreate them. It has been so much fun and such a great workout. I also wanted to keep the same boxing schedule I had at home where I box Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I am still getting my workout schedule down for the school year, but I also know that I need to force a rest day upon myself. I have learned (and still continue to learn) that if I don’t give my body a rest, my body will make a rest happen with sickness, burnout, or injury. Typically, by Thursday my body is ready for a break so I am making Thursday my rest day, but allowing it to change as needed. Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday are going to be HIIT/Strength days with a possibility of one of those days being pilates/sculpt/yoga. I am also going to try to do yoga twice a week at least for 20 minutes because it calms my soul and pushes my creativity. I did yoga on the roof of my apartment during sunset and it was amazing, so I think I will do that again. I can get outside, out of my brain, and into my body.
As far as food goes, I now have to make all my food which I love, but of course it’s another thing to think about. I decided that on Sundays I am going to plan my meals for the week, go shopping, and meal prep. I will get food for the whole week, but only prep until Wednesday so nothing goes bad. Unfortunately because I am cooking for one that means a lot of repetitive meals, but that’s ok.
Here is this week’s meal plan:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Breakfast: Egg Bites and Fruit
Lunch: Bahn Mi Rotisserie Chicken Salad
Dinner: Greek Dinner
Thursday and Friday
Breakfast: Protein Oatmeal and Fruit
Lunch: Chickpea Veggie Bowl
Dinner: Fish Taco Bowls
After planning my meals, I made my grocery list. After I post my blog, hit the gym, and shower, I am headed to the store and will begin meal prepping. I love Sundays so much and I know most people don’t say that, but it is all about your mindset. Use this lovely day to reset and get excited about your week. You decide how you react. Romanticize your life and with the time you can control, make the most of it.
While I meal prep I am going to jam out to some music and have a good time. When I finish, I am going to get all my school supplies prepped in my backpack and all set up. I like to set out my outfit the night before because there have been many times I was almost late trying to decide what to wear lol. I am going to do some yoga on the roof tonight, chill, and go to bed early.
Everything is going to be a work in progress especially with working, cooking, school, working out, and budgeting but I am excited for this new challenge and so beyond grateful.
