Homemade Holiday Starbucks Drinks

Happy Ellavate day 3!! For today’s post I wanted to give you guys a fun activity that ends in a delicious drink. I don’t know about you, but I love all of the winter drinks, especially the holiday drinks from Starbucks. So instead going to Starbucks, let’s bring Starbucks to you!

What I love about this post is that you can change these drinks in any way you want. You could use coffee, tea, hot cocoa, etc. There is also a lot of flexibility in the ingredients depending upon if you want to make more things or buy more. For example, I used store bought caramel but if you wanted to make your own, go for it.

All of these measurements are just suggestions so you can add everything to taste.

Drink #1 Gingerbread Latte:

Ingredients:

-1/4 cup brown sugar

-1/2 cup granulated sugar

-3/4 cup water

-2 tbsp molasses

-1 tsp ground ginger

-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

-1 tsp vanilla

-Coffee or liquid of choice

-Milk

-Ground nutmeg

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, water, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until the sugar has dissolved. Then set aside.

  2. Heat the milk in the microwave or on the stovetop. If you want to make more of a foam then whisk the milk while it’s on the stove or use a milk frother if you have one. Set this aside as well.

  3. Add 2 Tbsp of the gingerbread syrup to the bottom of a mug.

  4. Add your coffee or other liquid and milk and stir.

  5. Add a sprinkle of nutmeg to the top and enjoy.

Drink #2 Peppermint Mocha:

Ingredients:

-Sugar

-Water

-Peppermint extract

-Chocolate syrup

-Coffee or liquid of choice (I recommend using a peppermint flavored drink)

-Milk

-Candy canes

-Whipped cream

Directions:

  1. Make the peppermint syrup by combining equal amounts of water, sugar, and peppermint extract in a saucepan. Heat until dissolved and then set aside. I used 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, and a little more than 1/4 tsp peppermint extract. If you want to follow the amount I used you are sure to have extra.

  2. Heat the milk in the microwave or on the stovetop. If you want to make more of a foam then whisk the milk while it’s on the stove or use a milk frother if you have one. Set this aside as well.

  3. Put 2-3 tablespoons of the peppermint syrup and 2-3 tablespoons of chocolate syrup in the bottom of a mug.

  4. Add your coffee, tea, or hot cocoa as well as the milk, and stir.

  5. Add any toppings. I added whipped cream and then crushed up a candy cane in a plastic bag and added that.

  6. Enjoy!
