My School Workout Schedule

Happy Sunday amazing humans! I know getting back into the flow of school and work after summer can be hard. The important thing is to give yourself a break and slowly ease back in to your normal routine. Don’t hold yourself to the same standard you were at before until you have the chance to get back into the groove.

I was gone all summer long and didn’t workout for weeks on end which is exactly the rest my body needed! Now, though, I’m going back to my normal workouts and it can be hard not to judge myself when I’m not doing as well or getting fatigued easer. This is so normal and you need to let your body get back to its normal state without putting too much pressure on yourself. You will only get better if you keep working at it, so don’t stop or give up.

As these first few weeks of school have past, I have been getting into a fabulous workout schedule. I want to preface this by saying, this is an example of my workout routine, I don’t follow this every week (some weeks get crazy and I have to change on the fly), and I am not telling you to follow this, these are just ideas. As many of you know, I need variation in my life so I switch my workouts almost daily. I also workout pretty much everyday for the sake of my mental health. Remember, working out is NOT a competition against others, only yourself. Please do not compare what I do to what you do.

Monday: I have power yoga with my family and family friends! When I do yoga I typically try to make it as challenging as possible because I like my workouts hard. During this practice, I try to work on improving skills such as arm balances, handstands/forearms stands, pistol squats, etc. I absolutely love to come up with my own variations, make things fun, and mix it up. I also love that I get to surround myself with my favorite people, this makes working out so so much fun because we can all laugh and learn together.

Tuesday: I recently started boxing with my brother, dad, and a personal trainer. The days we box change, but recently we went on Tuesday. Boxing is a great strength and cardio workout and I love having a new workout to play around with. Getting super sweaty makes me feel so good, and I’m really trying to get my whole body even stronger.

Wednesday: My brother and I typically do tennis once a week together, but sometimes it’s just me. We always ride our bikes to our country club as our warmup and then get started with our tennis coach. Our tennis coach is so talented and hilarious so it makes tennis even better. Also, as I said, I love to get sweaty and tennis in the Florida heat definitely does that. Each time is different, but we begin with a tennis warmup, then usually practice four types of shots on each hand, with running, and then we do other types of shots and more running around! I like to run a ton during tennis so I make sure to tell my coach… Leuck isn’t always too happy about that lol.

Thursday: I have nothing scheduled on this day so I change it up all the time. Sometimes I’ll do a peloton ride then a peloton arm video and a Madfit abs video. Other times, I’ll do a peloton barre class and throw in another Madfit video. Or, I’ll do purely videos available on YouTube. I love doing Sarah’s Day videos or Madfit videos. When I have no workout classes scheduled during the whole week, then I will do YouTube videos and the Peloton all week. When this is the case, I will have specific days for arms, legs, HIIT, and full body. I typically do about four videos that totals up to between an hour and an hour and a half.

Friday: Yayy! Finally Friday. I also have power yoga on Friday with family and friends. This is the perfect end to my school week and allows me to hangout after yoga with the whole crew, and chat. A good workout a some friends never fails.

Saturday: I LOVE my Saturday workout classes with my whole heart. I have an 8:30 HIIT class and a 9:30 power yoga class. The combination of these two workouts is so much fun and such a great workout. I enjoy being around the yoga community, but at the same time I feel as the I can be alone with myself and my thoughts. It’s such an incredible feeling that I’ve never felt before, being with people and feeling a warm love, but also being in your own bubble.

Sunday: Today I will either rest or do something similar to Thursday. Sunday’s are typically a Peloton day unless I feel like resting or doing something else.

Working out is probably my favorite thing in this world which is why I don’t take many rest days. I always listen to my body when I feel like I need to rest. My mom will also tell me when I’ve been working out too much a make me stop hahah… mama knows best let me tell you.

I encourage you to listen to your body and mind. You know when you need to take a break vs. when you are just being lazy. Only you can decide and at the end of the day, you are the only one who will feel the effects.

Find workouts that you enjoy, and that make you smile (maybe not all the time because let’s be real workouts can be rough sometimes). If something isn’t working, change it up. If you need motivation, book a class or workout with a friend. Find someone or something that will hold you accountable. The biggest and most important thing is to have fun! Breathe and don’t sweat the small stuff, you’re amazing.
