Ellavate Your Hot Chocolate
To ellavate your holiday season on Ellavate day 9, I have two creative hot cocoa ideas. I don’t know about you guys, but this is my favorite festive holiday drink. Hot chocolate brightens my mood immediately, and I instantaneously feel warm and fuzzy inside. Don’t get me wrong, this drink is perfect the way it is, but on my blog I love to spice things up a bit! In that case, I made whipped hot chocolate and frozen hot chocolate. Both of these recipes are simple and don’t require many ingredients at all.
Whipped hot chocolate: I think we can all remember when whipped coffee blew up and everyone was making it. I’m not a coffee drinker but I love the idea of whipping up a drink. This drink will rock your world with its fluffy texture and luscious taste. After making this drink I took a sip and my jaw fell to the ground. I was amazed that it tasted as good as it did. Not like I didn’t expect it to be good, but it went above and beyond my expectations. I went around my house to my family making them try it. We all came to the same consensus…it’s amazing. Not only is it super tasty, but it takes no time at all. It is so simple and makes for the best holiday treat. You could also use the whipped part and put it on top of something else like pancakes.
This is the kitchen of a girl who has been baking for two days straight LOL.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup hot chocolate mix
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup cold heaving whipping cream
1/2 cup milk
Ice if you want to make an iced version
Recipe:
Sift powdered sugar and hot cocoa mix into a bowl. Add the whipping cream and mix until creamy.
Heat the milk in a mug if you want it hot, or put ice and milk in a glass. Add the whipped mixture to the top.
Add any extra toppings such as marshmallows and enjoy.
Frozen peppermint hot chocolate: Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to have a white Christmas. Some of us are hanging out in shorts and a T-shirt at this time of year. A frozen hot chocolate is the perfect cool winters treat for those who are having a tropical Christmas. Even if you do live in a cold climate, some people prefer cold drinks instead of hot. So, I have the drink for you. You will be able to slurp this frozen peppermint hot chocolate right down. I love how this drink is cold, but it still feels cozy. You also get the most perfect peppermint flavor coming right through.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup milk chocolate
1 tbsp peppermint hot chocolate mix
1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
1/2 cup milk
Ice
Whipped cream
Crushed candy cane
Recipe:
Heat the chocolate in the microwave until it is fully melted.
Stir in the hot chocolate mix. Once combined stir in the milk. Pour in the blender and add ice (I added around 2 big scoops).
Add crushed candy cane (I used two mini candy canes) to the blender and blend. Taste and continue blending until smooth. Add more of anything depending on what you desire.
Top with whipped cream and more crushed candy canes.
