Holiday Movie Snacks
Happy Ellavate day 6! Today I wanted to help you ellavate your holiday movie experience with three super yummy holiday movie treats. I think we can all agree that movies and snacks are like peanut butter and jelly, they just go together. Not only are these great for eating, but they are also a blast to make and perfect for gifting. So, turn up your holiday music (or if your me and can’t focus with multiple things going on then just have it play lightly in the background) and get ready to make these scrumptious treats.
Muddy Buddies:
The first holiday snack idea is muddy buddies! I don’t know about you guys but Im obsessed with these especially because you can add in all sorts of candies to make it even tastier. If you’ve never had muddy buddies, they are a mix of Chex cereal, peanut butter, and powdered sugar along with any candy add-ins you want. These are irresistible with the best texture from the creamy peanut butter and the crunchy cereal, and the perfect amount of sweetness.
I used this recipe from Chrissy Teigen and John Legend but I added in my own candy, made some changes, and cut the recipe in half! I like my muddy buddies with a lot of peanut butter and chocolate so you can decrease the amount if you don’t want as much.-
Ingredients:
-4.5 cups of Chex cereal
-1 cup mini marshmallows
-3/4 cup milk chocolate melts or chocolate chips
-1/4 cup plus 2 heaping tbsp of peanut butter
-3 tbsp cup butter
-3/4 tsp vanilla
-1 cup powdered sugar
-holiday candy added in
Recipe:
Combine cereal and marshmallows in a large bowl and set aside.
Microwave the chocolate melts, peanut butter, and butter for 30 seconds and then in 15 second increments until the mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in the vanilla and pour over the cereal and marshmallows.
Add powdered sugar
Add other candies to taste.
Chocolate dipped potato chips topped with crushed candy canes:
You guys this has to be the best invention ever! The saltiness from the perfectly crunchy potato chip is made for the sweet chocolate coating. The addition of crushed candy canes adds the best holiday touch and you won’t be able to stop going back for more!
Ingredients:
-chocolate melts of choice (I used milk and white)
-candy canes (I recommend the mini ones)
-potato chips (or any snack to dip in the chocolate, I also used marshmallows and pretzels)
Recipe:
Melt your chocolate in bowls
Put your candy canes in a plastic bag and crush them with the back of a spoon, measuring cup, or other tool.
Dip away! Dip each chip about half way into the chocolate using a spoon to cover. Place on a plate covered with parchment paper and after you dip each chip, put the crushed candy cane on top before the candy melts harden.
Once you are done, freeze as needed ( I actually didn’t need to freeze mine because they hardened quickly.)
Ellavate tip: If you are using pretzels, put the whole pretzel in the chocolate and use and fork or spoon to cover completely. If you are using marshmallows, use the same method as the potato chips. As you can see, this recipe can be modified in so many ways so be creative and adjust when necessary!
Sugar cookie truffles:
Not just a sugar cookie, not just a truffle, but a sugar cookie truffle. These have the perfect consistency of a soft chewy sugar cookie covered with white chocolate and topped with some holiday sprinkles.
Ingredients:
-15 sugar cookies
-2 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
-1/2 tsp vanilla
-1 cup white chocolate candy melts
Recipe:
In a blender or food processor add the sugar cookies and grind until fine crumbs.
Add in the cream cheese and vanilla and pulse until combined.
Cover a plate with parchment, roll the mixture into a ball shape and dip into the chocolate. Sprinkle with holiday sprinkles.
Now that you have made your movie snacks, go turn on a holiday movie and snuggle up! Some holiday movies I love are: The Grinch, Elf, Home Alone, Polar Express (this is greatly debated in my house!), Hallmark Christmas Movies, etc.
